I’ve had the opportunity to share the message of The College Hook in interactive programs for a wide range of audiences around the country. I’ve been able to spread the gospel of successful college applications at bookstore talks, public and private school seminars for AP and IB students and parents, and workshops for students from the Middle East aiming for college in America.
High school guidance counselors have turned out in force for sessions I led at conventions of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC), and the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA).
Through talks to dozens of first-generation, African-American students in Florida and Asian students in Massachusetts, I’ve encouraged underserved teens to turn their life experiences into a hook to make college a reality. One of my greatest rewards was a private Lion Dance by a team from the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts (SEACMA). The SEACMA teens took my college advice to heart: students gained admission to a host of Ivies, including Harvard, Yale, Brown, and Cornell.

Pam moderated a panel on the subject of the “Hook” at the annual conference of the National Association for College Admission Counseling. More than 250 high school college counselors attended the standing-room-only event.
The store was packed for Pam Proctor and The College Hook … standing-room only, with folks down the aisles … Pam’s presentation is excellent!” — Cynthia Callander, VBBC
At the invitation of the Rector of Hanoi University, Pam led professional writing teams to Hanoi in 2004 and 2007 to teach nonfiction and fiction techniques to top English faculty at one of Vietnam’s leading universities.
